Hustle and bustle!

24th September 2014

A big and warm hello from Kampala Children's Centre!

After a summer that turned K.C.C into a bustling hub of development, we are ready, finally, to take a much needed breather (and a sit down) and fill you in on all the wonderful happenings the past few months have brought us.
As you will all be delighted to hear, the Destiny Africa choir returned home safe and sound, settling back into their home life with their families and began focusing upon their studies.

But don't worry! All pens and papers were readily dropped at the arrival of one indeed, very royal invitation; to perform for the presidents of Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan and cabinet ministers of Kenya, Ethiopia, Burundi and Tanzania.
The choir were more than hasty to perform for such an audience at the commissioning of East African high speed railway. They gave an outstanding show, so much so that they have been invited  to perform again for the president of Uganda, upon the 21st of October to commission youth projects in the district of Wakiso. Just incase we weren't proud enough.

A B C, 1 2 3
As the nights start to drawn in and we slowly come closer toward the end of the year, this herralds the start of many lessons and evenings spent revising making preparations to undertake major exams. This includes 37 of our own children and our Stride Academy students, many of these will be taking secondary school and University entry exams. Many of our children have high spirits (and perhaps some nerves too) and are working very hard.
Like many of our toddlers at K.C.C, they have grown too fast while we weren't looking and are developing well at school. Soon to be K.C.C professor, Stephan-Christopher checks his books and lunch box into school for studies.

Construction Marathon
The past few months have seen K.C.C make major changes, the construction of our primary and middle school has steadily continued so much so that we are now putting the finishing touches upon the six top floor classrooms.

The dining hall roof construction is coming along nicely and we have dedicated a plot of land for the wonderful medical centre we will be constructing. House eleven has now had its foundation slab completed and is coming along leaps and bounds. Within September solar power lighting was installed into five houses
